TradeLab was such a great culmination of my LLM. It helped me apply the knowledge I had acquired throughout the year to a real-life case, meet real-life prospective clients and prepare a memorandum giving the client an independent and objective overview of possible claims. It honed my research skills and enhanced my teamwork capabilities. If you want to learn, think through a problem and innovate a solution in international trade, TradeLab is the place to be.

TradeLab is definitely a very helpful course that helps us gain practical skills and academic knowledge. I practiced my working skill such as project management, teamworking, document drafting and public presentation. I would recommend every student who interested in trade law to participate in the TradeLab Clinic.

TradeLab is a bridge for the students interested in the pursuit of trade and investment law which fills the void between theoretical and practical knowledge. To work on a project under the TradeLab clinic has been a sui generis experience for me, and I am very grateful for the support and guidance provided by the mentors and Supervisor.

Being a TradeLab fellow is an amazing experience. It allows international economic law to move outside of the classroom to truly become international. This fall, with the students at QMUL’s pilot clinic, we went on an adventure looking at how best to leverage tech-enabled legal research methods—including the emerging field of legal data analytics. Legal data analytics fuses computer science with the traditional legal method. According to the students, these tools not only helped them take their project to the next level but have served them well in all their subsequent work.

The output of the project exceeded our expectations, and it is very helpful for our organization. The communication was great, and we really enjoyed participating in this project.

The TradeLab was unlike any other academic experience I have had; it allowed me to think very actively about how to solve contemporary problems. The entire experience of researching and working with the team to come up with creative ways to address the brief was extremely valuable. I would certainly recommend students who are curious about trade law to be a part of this enriching experience!

The TradeLab Clinic offered us an excellent opportunity to dive deeper into a legal topic with direct implications to trade practice – in our case, trade digitalization. We were positively surprised with the experience of the researchers and very much appreciated the final output.

The clinic was a highly enriching experience both professionally and personally. From a professional level, the project was intellectually stimulating and engaging. On a personal level, working with students from different backgrounds created a unique environment for the exchange of knowledge and the development of innovative solutions. The clinic was a fantastic opportunity to further develop analyzing, drafting and legal research skills. This clinic was undoubtedly the highlight of my LLM programme at Queen Mary University. I would like to thank TradeLab for giving us the chance to participate in such an interesting project.

My participation in the TradeLab Clinic has served as a turning point for my professional and academic legal upbringing. Our supervisor, mentors, along with my peers have provided me with valuable insights and guidance. Such interactions and exchanges of ideas can provide the necessary energy and determination for young professionals like myself, to pursue a career in international law. This experience has been nothing but truly fascinating, enriching and inspiring.

The Clinic team was highly professional and up to the task. During the process, in interactive discussions, we helped each other decide the best options that could be applied in the assessment process. We have already developed a good track record of practice in doing projects with TradeLab. This is our fourth project, and each time, it helped us a lot in researching of the specific issue and designing model solutions.

The TradeLab Economic Law Clinic project was an excellent experience, where I learnt extensively about the practice of trade law. One of the highlights of this project is that it makes an impact: each project has produced a tangible outcome that will be use by the beneficiaries across the world. This wouldn’t have been possible without Professors Andersen and Van der Ven, who were always enthusiastic, supportive, and mentored us in the best way possible! I would highly recommend Tradelab for students interested in the practice of international economic law!

TradeLab was a challenging but amazing opportunity that I will never regret! It took me out of my comfort zone literally in every way possible, including learning something new and speaking in public. It was also an honour to have the opportunity to work under the supervision of Prof. Colette van der Ven, an inspiring professional and an example of woman leadership. The tools gained through TradeLab serve me today in other areas of my academic and professional path.

TradeLab gave me the opportunity to work under the supervision of two prominent trade law experts, Professor Jennifer Hillman and Professor Katrin Kuhlmann. I was exposed to the most cutting-edge trade issues and contributed to solving them by writing a report for the federal government to advance its policy agenda. In addition, I appreciate all the help and teamwork from my teammates, mentors, and beneficiaries. It has been a challenging but rewarding experience.
